On the same theme of both films, Producer- director Sanjay Khandelwal says, "I first registered 'fashion' title in 2004 and went to Percept Picture's Sunny Khanna. We decided to work together on this subject. Later. We came to know that UTV and Madhur are also planning to make a film on the same subject under the same title. As we did not renew the title on time, they got our original title and we had to change to another one. It is very bad that these big makers want to make it big at the cost small makers."

Namrata Thapa - New entry with Ravi Kisan

Having graduated from Delhi University, she did a lot of modelling and fashion shows there. But Mumbai was her dream station, where she did quite a few hit serials like 'Kya Hadsa Kya Haqiqat', 'Vaidhehi'.  'CID', 'Ravan',and  'Nagin'. Namrata Thapa's creative journey took her to Oriya and Bengali films. Her Oriya film 'I love you' was a smash hit, which made her the most popular actress of that part of the world and her recently released Bengali films 'Golmal' and 'Ghar Jamai' are running house full all over Bengal. The latest of Namrata Thapa's oeuvre is Sagar Arts "Mahima Shani dev Ki" . She is playing the central character of Rani Madanlekha, wife of King Vikramaditya who is under the spell of Shanidev.  Rani Madalekha stands by the king in hours of ups and downs which makes the Namrata's role interspersed with different shades, ranging from a pauper to the queen.

Unlike many TV artists, Namrata find TV's job interesting and satisfying. "TV trains you and teaches you different nuances of acting. In comparison to films it offers you more roles and you are freer to experiment with them. When asked about plans ahead, she answers cautiously but skeptically, "Standard of actresses in Hindi films has downward.  Actresses are used as show pieces… they are not given chance to show their talent. Yes, of course, if role is good, I would do it happily, otherwise, I am better off with serials where I am being offered lead role. I have decided now to do only lead roles like Sagar Arts has given me one. I am very grateful to them for giving me such a role."

After the successful stint as a host on Zee's celeb studded reality show Ek Se Badhkar Ek, Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kissen will reportedly have to bid adieu to the show due to his commitments.

A source close to the actor says, " Ravi Kissen has to fly to South Africa for the shooting of the movie Luck which also has Sanjay Dutt in the lead. Ravi ji has a very important role in the movie. The show has been given a four week extension as the show is doing well though it is in the 7:30pm slot. It is reported that Mandira Bedi will be roped in in his place."

A reliable source from the production house UTV confirms the news and says, "It is true that Ravi ji has some other committments and thus is planning to call it quits. He has to fly to South Africa for his upcoming movie Luck. We will try to work on the money part and come to an amicable conclusion. One has to retain Ravi Kissen as he is the USP of the show. All the mails we receive from fans and viewers speak volumes about it. We will try to call him every Tuesday for the shoot by arranging air tickets for him."

When asked if the production house is contemplating on some names who can step in Ravi's shoes the source said, "We are positive that we will succeed in convincing Ravi Kissen." "Chances are very low of Ravi ji shooting in the next week. He is shooting this week. Though UTV is trying very hard to convince him but one sees it rather difficult for him to fly down every week from S.A," says the source. When contacted, Zee TV Programming Head, Tarun Mehra said, "I don't know what you are talking about and where this is coming from." Well amidst all this confusion we just wonder who will replace the Bhojpuri babu.

To play the animal-like psychopath in Luck, Ravi Kishan had to forego the pleasure of co-hosting the second season of Bigg Boss with Shilpa Shetty. Says Kishan from Cape Town, "Shilpa and I were to co-host Bigg Boss. And after being inmates at Bigg Boss and Big Brother we'd have made a nice pair. But unfortunately this film where I play a psycho, required immense preparation. My character is like many animals rolled into one. Sometimes he's a hyena, sometimes he becomes a rabbit. I avidly watched the National Geographic Channel for weeks to understand and imbibe animal traits. This is the most complex role of my career, and thank God for my co-stars. All of us, Danny Saab, Mithunda, and of course Imran are one big boys' club. We work and party together. And women are not allowed. In fact, I've adopted Danny Saab as my Guru. There's no rivalry no one-upmanship. All of us have well-defined very rugged and sporty parts."

Ravi looking for next Big Boss

Cape Town has suddenly come alive to major male bonding, thanks to Soham Shah's rugged outdoor sporty thriller, Luck, being shot out there. The film is being described as a 'Fear Factor' in feature-film format where all the main characters are on a high-risk mission in the rugged outdoors.

Says Ravi, "We've to do any and everything from climbing mountains to plunging deep underwater to jumping off helicopters. Everyone had to get into special shape, me included. I've been working out doubly hard before coming to Cape Town." The Bhojpuri superstar sees Luck as his biggest break to date. "All of us have been given clearly defined parts. And there's no sense of one-upmanship among us. I've never worked in a more friendly atmosphere in my life. Even Imran who flew into South Africa after becoming an overnight superstar is a pleasure to work with . He's so down-to-earth and masoom. He told me he had seen me in 1971 and liked me. As for Shruti Haasan, she's the daughter of the living legend Kamal Haasan and already a rock star. But she has no attitude. She's one of us boys."

The August Kranti (August Revolution), which took place in Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, is one among the most inspiring chapters of the Quit India Movement of 1942. The Indian National Congress at its Bombay session (August 1942) passed the famous Quit India resolution, calling for a mass struggle under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. All the major leaders were arrested and the Congress itself was declared illegal. A dismayed India reacted spontaneously against this repressive act. Popular revolts broke out across the length and breadth of the country, with the battle cry of "British Quit India". In Ballia District of U.P. the revolt started with protest demonstrations of the students. The arrest of a few girls and at-random firing by the police in the market sent a wave of indignation into the hearts of the people. The resultant anger and excitement led to spontaneous acts of protest like removal of rails, cutting of telegraph wires and burning of railway and police stations in the rural areas.

This TV Series (Daily Soap) of around 250 Episodes is based upon this historic Event and will be shown on soon to be launched 'MAHUA TV'. The series is being made in Bhojpuri language but keeping the authenticity in mind of of the main charectors will speak in Hindi and English. The team of ASR Telefilms has just returned from the outdoor shooting which was done at the real locations of Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. The team shot for about 20 days using best of the technicians and equipment. The serial will go on Air from 11th of August when MAHUA TV will be launched.

A Nederland stamp on Sudhir Kumar

Last month, the entire Bhojpuri film industry was shocked, when we came up with the news that the Dutch postal stamp issued on Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari is not actually an official stamp – but a personalized one, which can be made by anyone after paying some price to TNT Post (the private agency, which works as the postal department in Holland (Netherlands). Reacting to this news, Manoj Tiwari - in his column in a Hindi daily in Mumbai (and in a Film Magazine) - blamed Bhojpuria.com as a website being run by a friend of Ravi Kishan. He even tried to question the credibility of the website.

"By the help of Ravi Kishan, some people are trying to defame me... this stamp is an official one and not the purchased one. Two Indian names were put forward for the honour - Musician Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia and mine - the fact that I was chosen over a man of such stature and seniority fills me with both pride and humility," Manoj told a news agency. He even challenged media that if any other Indian gets this stamp, he will leave the film industry. 

Now, to the worst of Manoj's imagination, Bhojpuria.com has been successful in getting a similar stamp with the photo of its director Sudhir Kumar. Other than the photograph, the stamp is same. "We were pretty shocked by the allegations of Manoj Tiwari. We requested our visitors to help us prove our point, and one of our visitors from Netherlands – Helga Kommers - had posted the stamps to us in an envelope with my stamp on it," said Sudhir Kumar, director of Bhojpuria.com. "It is pretty easy to have this kind of stamp made online with any photo on it, and it costs Rs. 600 (9 Euro) only. But, this facility is available only for the residents of Netherlands," added Kumar. 

Manoj Tiwari for 9X

How come Manoj Tiwari got it - As per a close associate of Tiwari, he was in touch with a Netherlands resident (Arun), who made this stamp for him in return to some personal benefit (?). After that, Manoj used his stardom to encash this "honour" (?) to the fullest extent. Arun has been reportedly left India, on the same day, when this news broke up.

What Next... Now, since Manoj is caught, will he leave the film industry, as he challenged??? Of course it will be a big loss for the Bhojpuri film industry, and we do not want him to do so… but what about the claims he made about Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia - hence defaming him – will he forgive him?

What about the false claims he (and his associates) made to the Governor of Bihar? Will Bihar Government forgive him for the same? "You are invited to the felicitation ceremony of Manoj Tiwari, on the occasion of getting an official stamp by the Netherlands Govt," was written on the invitation letter of the programme of "Bhojpuri Viswa", in which the Governor felicitated Tiwari. Also, Is it so easy for anyone to fool media to use it in his favor? A noted English daily wrote an editorial on this honour(?), and everyone knows that, how the same editorial was used in media to prove the point... and to get more publicity. Will the people of Netherlands forgive him for using the name of their Queen (and Govt) just to prove a false point? The people over there are not happy over all these, suggests a Bhojpuria.com survey.

Should we forget that how he tried to defame Bhojpuria.com, on this issue ? Don't you think that Manoj Tiwari had tried to defame the image of Bhojpuria society by this shemful act? Don't you think, this incident will give yet another reason of non-trust to our enemies in Assam & Maharastra? Several more similar questions are there, which needs to be answered by Manoj Tiwari only.

Kalpana - New height for Bhojpuri

This singer Kalpana is making it big in the small screen. She is one of the strong contender of NDTV IMAGINE’s new musical reality show JUNOON…..Kuchh Kar Dikhaane Ka ! Kalpana is represent the folk team “Maati Ke Laal”, presenting folk songs from UP/Bihar/ Assam. The show started with a very grand opening by dashing ever charming talented actor Hritik Roshan. Hritik’s presence in the show revealed the glamour of the show. The show is hosted by none other than the legend of silver screen Annu Kapoor. His presence shows the deftness of the show.

Illa Arun represented Kalpana from folk group as Triveni of river Bhramaputra and Ganga as she has taken the responsibility of three states-UP, Bihar & Assam. Kalpana’s performance of bihu of Assam was the greatest hit. She was asked by Illa Arun to sing Bhupen Hazarika’s hit song Manuhe Manuhor Babe and got great applaud from the judges and the audience. Says Kalpana, I am from northeast, ASSAM . Northeast is a reservoir of talent but it hurts when people consider the region different from India . She feels that north-eastern India is a reservoir of talent but it has not been given due recognition because the region suffers from a sense of geographical and social alienation. She is 'hurt' that many people do not consider the northeast as a part of India . For example, in the television music talent hunt reality shows contestants from our region do well. And the nation must realise that they (participants) reach there because of their talent, not favouritism. I want the rest of the country to cherish it, but respect for the region is lacking,' KALPANA told. Kalpana holds the local residents equally responsible. 'Talents from the region are not being recognised. To a certain extent, we (northeast residents) are also responsible for it because we don't remind them about our potential.

But without any support she made it big in Mumbai film industry. She has truly confirmed that language has no barrier. It would be injustice to put a tag (Bhojpuri Singer) on Kalpana. If we correctly analyze she can really sing in different languages. Says Kalpana,I had no support or godfather in Mumbai .But thanks to the people of UP & BIHAR who gave me full support and made Kalpana a big name in Bhojpuri music industry. She says, today with this show JUNOON people are getting to know the richness of Bhojpuri music. I wish if Laluji extend his best wishes & moral support to promote Bhojpuri as he is the only international super star.
