Straight from the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York to the Lakmé Fashion Week in Mumbai, Barbie’s first-ever fashion extravaganza in India went off in grand style with the Barbie – All Doll’d Up! show, which kicked off the Lakmé Fashion Week. Exhibiting real-life size Barbie® inspired looks put together by renowned fashion designers from across the country. Bollywood Diva Katrina Kaif joined the Indian fashion fraternity to celebrate the world’s most popular and admired fashion icon – Barbie’s® - 50th anniversary. Katrina Kaif wished Barbie in her own unique style by walking the ramp showcasing the winning design created by Nishka Lulla.

To bring alive the birthday celebration, Mattel Toys India Pvt Ltd invited leading Indian Fashion Designers to participate in a unique contest where they were presented a chance of a lifetime to design for Barbie. The goal was to create a unique look which presented Barbie as a modern day fashionista with an Indian twist. The Barbie association with fashion in India was further accentuated with the announcement of the creation of a specially crafted doll by Mattel. This doll will be made in the likeness of Katrina Kaif and will be dressed in the winning design by Nishka Lulla. This will be a one-of-a-kind doll, a single exclusive piece in the world, and this would be the first such honour for an Indian celebrity! This doll will not be retailed for sale.

Speaking on the association Katrina Kaif said, “I am grateful to be bestowed with this honour of being the first ever Indian Celebrity for whom a doll will be made in my likeness. This is a very special moment for me personally as I have always loved Barbie ever since I was a little girl. Beby Madaha and Feisal Ismail have recorded an album of nine songs each under a contract struck with Dar es Salaam-based Pilipili Entertainment Company. Beby ‘s debut album has nine songs entitled Amor (Love) which is the title track, say all, Haitoshi, Bounce, Indian Flute, Mpenzi, Wakati Umepita, We ni Wangu, Kwani Vipi and Back it Up.

These songs are mainly meant for dance as you Beby is both a singer and performer. The song Indian Flute is a union of Kiswahili and Gujarati - it`s quite a kicker. Feisal’s nine-track album is titled Hope and the tracks are: Wanakataa, Don`t Cry, Watoto wa Ghetto, Maisha Unayoishi, Wanachizika, Sina Mwingine, Daima Pamoja and Back it Up.

The producer of these albums is called Pancho Latino. They featured artistes like Mr Blue, Chidi Benz and Nura in their albums. Upon returning from India, there will be an official launch of their albums in May. It is going to be the first of its kind in Tanzania and will be broadcast live on television. Many first got to know about Beby and Feisal when they took part in Bongo Star Search (BSS) where they were evicted and failed to make it into the top five. They might not have made it to the top but they have talent and it is this talent that Pilipili seeks to promote, so that talented artists don`t get discouraged.

The research that went into the scripting of The Stoneman Murders involved an intensive search for old newspaper articles dating back to 1983 (when the killings actually took place). The director and his team combed the Asiatic Library, the Govt. Archival Library at Elphinstone college, the Times of India Archives and the Archival depts. of Indian Express, Maharashtra Times, Navbharat Times and other newspapers.

Prior to this, the preliminary research done by the director was over the internet where a few articles about the Stoneman had been posted recently. The dates obtained from the internet were later used to carry out the more detailed research in the libraries and newspaper archives.

After the serial killer aptly dubbed 'Stoneman' by the media has just claimed his fifth victim, the case is still of little interest to the Bombay Police force. But to suspended sub-inspector Sanjay Shelar (Kay Kay Menon), this killer poses an opportunity. Sanjay hopes to track this killer down and thus, possibly find an entry back into the police force. With the secret aid of his patronizing superior AIG Satam (Vikram Gokhale), Sanjay takes up the arduous process of tracking this killer down. But the official police investigator of the case Inspector Kedar Phadke (Arbaaz Khan) clashes incessantly with Sanjay as both of them, separately, delve deeper into the case. Even as the police jostle for leads and clues, the Stoneman stalks the streets unabated, claiming victim after victim.

Aish - Loves to Expose & Dance

Famous singer Nazia Hasan’s (“Aap jaisa koi meri zindgi me aaye” fame) another remix “Boom Boom mile jab hum tum” was shot for a video album and the famous model AISH ANSARI was the main girl in it. She has modeled for a Johnson and Johnson and for more prestigious projects.

The album is shot not only in Mumbai but also in Hongkong and Switzerland on a very high scale. Padma Ansari is the producer and the director is Mr. Vikas Dutta. Aish was a great fan of Nazia Hasan and her songs, she found great scope of exposing and dancing in Nazia’s album since Aish loves to do both. In this album Inder Bajwa is along with her and several dancers also participated in that song “boom boom … Jab mile hum tum”. This remix is Guru Sharma’s creation. The specialty of “Boom Boom” is that she has exposed herself and has enjoyed working in it. She has also worked in south Indian movies. Her latest was a Telgu film-‘Encounter’. Aslam Khan started his career with comedy film 'Nai Padosan'. Success of his debut film got him doing a few more. In 'Dil Bechara Pyar Ka Mara', 'Ikrar By Chance', 'Rafoo Chakkar' he was lead hero and audience liked him for his comedy timing. His next flick is also a comedy titled as 'By Chance, Milta Hai Chance", being directed by Ramesh Modi and produced by Jawahar Lal Jairath. Heroine paired with him is Gracy Singh. Aslam Khan is upbeat for his role of a young vivacious guy in this film. "I am playing a Singer. My character name is Rahul, who arrives in the city to pursue my career as a singer". but what he goes through in order to survive makes the gist of the film.. He has to do all sorts of works to survive in the city. His survival acts are presented in such a way that it will create laughter riot.

Only time will tell whether this 'By Chance, Milta Hai Chance' succeeeds in making the audience laugh or not.

In 1995, the acclaimed author José Saramago published the novel Blindness, an apocalyptic fable about a plague of blindness ravaging first one man, then a city, then the entire globe, with devastating fury and speed. Though the story was about a stunning loss of vision, the book opened the eyes of its readers to a new and revealing view of the world.

The book was celebrated by critics as a classic-in-the-making, a magnificent parable about our disaster-prone times and our metaphoric blindness to our sustaining connections to one another. It became an international bestseller, and also led, along with an accomplished body of equally thought provoking literature, to Saramago garnering the 1998 Nobel Prize for Literature.

As the novel rapidly gained millions of fans around the world, many filmmakers were magnetically drawn to its intricately created world, one that had never been seen on screen before. After all, how does one make a compellingly visual film in which almost no one can see? It called for a grand vision and one filmmaker who had such a vision right from the start was Fernando Meirelles, who, at the time, was an up-and-coming Brazilian filmmaker with a passion for big, intense, all enveloping cinema.

The novel's author originally refused to sell rights for a film adaptation, not wanting it to fall into the wrong hands. Meirelles was able to acquire rights with the condition that the film would be set in an unrecognizable city.

Fernando Meirelles was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and studied architecture at the University of São Paulo. His films include Maids (01), City of God (02), which won a Visions Award - Special Citation at the 2002 Festival, The Constant Gardener (05) and Blindness (08).

Manoj Bajpai & Hrishita Bhatt in Jugaad

Sandiip kapur's first film Jugaad has created controversies even before its release. This film has a song 'Kise awaz dun' sung by Pakistani artist Adeel. The producer had also shot a very expensive video on Adeel to use for the promotion of the film.

Sandiip Kapur, the producer of 'Jugaad', says, "We had signed Adeel 8 to 10 months prior to the 26/11 attacks, because he is very handsome and it looked like a very good marketing activity for the film. However, now keeping in mind the sentiments of people and the general mood in the country, we decided to scrap the music video and not to give any extra attention to the song 'Kise awaz dun'". In fact Sandiip refused to invite the singer to Mumbai for the music launch, inspite of repeated phone calls from him.

Pakistani singer Adeel

Adeel is very upset by the decision of the producer of 'Jugaad' to scrap the film's promotional video featuring him - a move that came in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks. Comments he , "I felt bad because I had worked hard on the song, 'Kise awaz dun', and the promotional video, which they have scrapped now. I was not even called for the music launch of the movie on Jan 2. I know that I was not invited because of the tension between the two countries, but I still feel bad." Adeel had also belted out the popular song, 'Move your body', in 'Kismat Konnection'.

Looks like Adeel is yet creative another causality after singer Ghulam Ali and comedians Shakeel Siddiqui and Kashif. Directed by R. Aanand Kumar, 'Jugaad' stars Manoj Bajpai, Hrishita Bhatt, Vijay Raz, Sanjay Misra and debutant Nitin Arora. and is based on the sealing drive by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi last year.

Shot at various locations in Delhi and Gurgaon, 'Jugaad' is the real life story of its producer Sandiip Kapur. It is vocal of struggle of a successful CEO to survive and restart his life from a scratch. None of his jugaads and connections work in his favour to save him from complete devastation. This film is a combination of loss, pain and comical satire. Its Music is by Sachin Gupta, screenplay & dialogues are by Bunty Rathore & Priyaank Dube and cinematographer is Prem Anand. It's produced under the banner of Promodome Films.

Ravi has many hopes with Ravana

Shooting of Maniratnam's Ravana is in progress in Orchha of MP. Song "Kata Kata, Maraa Maraa" is being picturised on Ravi Kisan. AR Rehman has composed the song beautifully where as Ganesh Acharya trying to give his best to the song. He's called 500 dancers from south. Since a standing instruction is given to the unit of Ravana including its artists to not disclose any information about film to anyone. According to source Ravi is playing “Mangal” and Abhishek is in “Mitran” as a younger brother of Ravi where as Aishwarya is playing “Mohini” a classical singer in Ravana. Earlier people were guessing that Abhishek & Ravi are playing Ram & Laxman, Aish is playing Sita, Govinda is playing Hanuman in this film but now it’s confirmed that these are nothing more than gossips. Mani’s Ravana is a different film and on the present day’s issue except its name.

Ravi Kiseen has lost not a little but 15 kgs from his long time shapeless body for his role in Mani Ratnam's Raavana. Ravi, along with Abhishek Bachchan and south hero Vikram, has been put on a strict diet by Mani, as they shoot in Dharmapuri near Bengaluru. Ravi confirms this, "Yes, I have lost 15 kgs during Raavana's shoot. Maniji (Mani Ratnam) is a very classy director but at the same time very strict too." Ravi further explains their day-to-day routine. "We wake up as early as 3.30 a.m. and leave our hotels at Bengaluru by 4 am. It takes us an hour to reach the location. The shoot begins by 5 am since the early morning light is essential. By 9 am we have breakfast and then continue shooting till 6 pm and wind up early because we have to go to bed by 9 pm," says Ravi. Ravi says whenever they find the time Abhishek, Vikram and he exercise together. "Abhishek's trainer Sam is on the sets to he trains Vikram and me also." He further added, "We all are on special diets. We have idli, boiled eggs, boiled vegetables and juices in all our meals. Result, I have lost 15 kgs." He explained his schedule for the film, "We will shoot hee for one more week, then we will get a 10 day break. Thereafter, we will go to Orchha, It's a place near Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Navni Parihar come from Indore (M.P.), she became house hold name by her multiple TV serials like Mujrim Hazir, Daastan, Chahat Aur Nafrat, Kalakar, Waqt Ki Raftar. Aarzoo, Mansha, and films. Her last serial was Mansha which came six years ago. This was the period when weekly serials stopped being made and daily serials started to rule the Channels. She was just not ready for hectic demand of dailies… so, opted for quite life withdrew herself from TV arena. Meanwhile she did a few films like Andaaz, Sharart, Dosti, Page 3 and Corporate but she maintained distance from serials. But how long can one keep onself from one's root. She is back to TV sets once again, after long six years with TV serial 'Babul Ka Aangan Chhute Naa'. She is plying mother doting (hero Sidharth Shukla's) and mother in law. On her come back Navni Parihar says, "I hate machine like exploitation of creative person… so I kept my self away from serials but I kept myself busy with commercials and films. I have agreed to do 'Babul Ka Aangan Chhute Naa'because the role is good and the producer is very accommodating.

Once played Ravan in Zee TV's serial actor Surendra Pal will again play Ravan in Guru Production's "Musical Ravan". According to the producer of "Musical Ramayan" Radheshyam Sodhani "In this Ramayam there will be more Doha & Chopai rather to dialogs and hope that this new trend will attract viewers who are looking for a change". "We are trying to keep simple language through out the serial so that people will easily understand it" he added. Serial is being directed by Chand Mehta and its associate director Ravi Kumar and Music will be given by Vasudev Shukla. Production controller is KM Avasthi. Accroding to producer there will be approx 300 episodes and will be on air shortly.

On seeing his title being usurped by someone, Ashok Mudgal filed the case against 'Colours Channel' & his serial producer at Mumbai High Court. In the first hearing, the advocate of Colours argued that nobody can have legal right over any title and anybody can have any title… and no authority can stop having anyone any title. Do Colours people think themselves above law any industry? Anyway, the honorable court has asked the producer Ashok Mudgal to prove his point that his title is registered and the organizations with which the title is registration are legally capable of registering a title.

Now, these Associations' existence and authority are at stake. Will these associations be strong enough to stand for their members from whom they have collected millions in the name of title registration. Will these associations be come forward and fight for Ashok Mudgal's rights. If no, then what they are for… and this question will be put to them not by one or two producers but by all the producers of Bollywood.

As the actor banks on the growing popularity of Bhojpuri cinema, a third side emerged when BSP fielded Vinay Tewari, son of mafia-turned-politician Hari Shankar Tewari. Political Pundits are now predicting a three cornered fight in this seat which has never let the BJP down, at least in the last several years.

Bhojpuri super star Ravi Kishan has taken over as president of Hamar TV, claimed to be the first multi-lingual 'Purabiya' news and current affairs channel in the country. This was disclosed by Uday Bhagat PRO of the actor in a release.

According to channel sources, the actor has assured to promote the brand, contribute his skills and expertise towards the content and programming of the channel. Mr Kishan has said he will work to project the right picture of the Purabiya society, and popularize the art and culture of the region, all over the world, the sources said, adding ''This is very clear from the punch-line of the channel- Hamar TV...Hamar Pehchan,'' the sources added. ''Talented people from the Purabiya region who have so far not been able to come into the limelight will be given a strong platform to showcase their skills,'' the release stated.

The channel comes in various languages like Angika, Maithili, Nagpuri, Najjhika, Magahi, Awadhi and Bagheli besides Bhojpuri as its main language. It will cater to more than 40 crore people belonging to the region and living all across the globe. The channel is a part of NETV group, which has a bouquet.

A tearful performance by Mentally Retarded children

The programme began with all the mentally retarded children, hoisting the national flag and singing the famous song “HUM HONGE KAMYAAB EK DIN… EK DIN”, every spectator who was watching had tears in their eyes. It touched the heart of everyone. Everyone appreciated the great effort of school staff – Shashi Mangalyam, they were celebrating Golden Jubilee year. The programme was conducted at Lokhandwala Garden Andheri, supported by Lions, Rotary and other social clubs.

The mentally challenged children entertained a lot, by their performance like riding a motor bike song, doing dance and play. Event organizer Mr. Sudhir Mangar has even made a short film for these children “TUMHARE PYAAR KE HAQDAR HAIN HUM”, the show-reel was displayed. Watching them on screen gave children great joy and happiness. Ms Jyoti Doshi, Secretary of school, expressed her feeling that this moment is unforgettable and memorable when children performing and entertaining people and are very happy while on stage. She said they are special children of God’s creation.

In this year Holi Mafia Ravi Kishan and Deewana Nirahua will have a chance to prove themselves, with their films releasing on same day. While Ravi Kishan is coming up with his Home Production film "Bihari Mafia", on the other hand Nirahua is going to appear in "Ho Gaini Deewana Tohra pyar me", which is produced by Alok Kumar, one of the most successful film-makers in Bhojpuri film industry. Baboo Soni is the director of Bihari Mafia and Ajay Srivastav has directed Ho Gaini Deewana Tohra Pyae Me. Both director are young and done his work well. The films have quite different subjects – “Bihari Mafia” is about youth crime, where as "Ho gaini dewaana tohra pyar me" is a romantic thriller, and even these stars have their own fan followings, but with both the films releasing on same day, this is being taken as challenge for both of them. Who will win the race... which film will perform better... are just a few of the questions in the mind of the audience, but stars feel something else.

"In fact, it is good to have many films releasing together, as that shows the power of Bhojpuri film industry, and it should not be taken as a contest among actors," says Ravi Kishan, whose "Bidaai" completed 50 days in Bihar, and is still running successfully. Nirahua, on the other hand, seems least bothered about this release - "Ravi Kishan is a senior actor, and both of us have different set of audience, so, I don’t see any clash at all... I would be happy, if both the films perform well," said Nirahua. With the growing number of un-successful films, both these films needs to prove themselves, in order to attract more investors to the industry.

Ravi Kishan who introduced Bhojpuri Cinema universally has started producing films and aims to make films with positive messages for the society. His home production company Mahadeva Production has produced Bihari Mafia in collaboration with a corporate film production company Baba Films. This film is going to be release on 11th March at Bihar and 20th March at Mumbai.

Ravi Kishan says that Bihari Mafia has commercial cinema masaala as well as potraying the present day social reality. In focus are the Mafia of Bihar and U.P. and he has tried to present the way some vested inerests exploit the weaknesses of some misguided youth introducing them to crime world. These same victims then turn into Mafia on their own and start exploiting others.

Abhay Sinha, of Yashi Films, says that Ravi Kishan has utilised his career long experience in making this film. The main strength of Bihari Mafia is its cast, all of them are associated with stage for long. The technical side of Bihari Mafia directed by Babloo Soni is very strong too. Main actors of the film include Ravi Kishan, Namrata Thaapa, Brijesh Tripathi, Awadhesh Mishra, Shri Vallabh Vyas, Vandini Mishra, Sikandar Khan and item girl Sambhawna Seth. In its history of 50 years Bhojpuri Cinema industry has given dozens of memorable films, but unfortunately only one film, Kab Hoi Gawna Hamaar, was able to win National Award. Now Bihari Mafia is expected to end that dry spell of award less years.

Bablu Soni, director of Bihari Mafia, was associate director of Kab Hoi Gawna Hamaar. He is famous for bringing alive real life stories in films. His previous Bhojpuri film Banke Bihari, MLA too was a grand success. Bablu Soni says until Bhojpuri Cinema is able to compete with Hindi cinema on same or better footing, it wont earn the respect that is due to it. He also denies that underworld is glamorized in this film and sone particular Mafia is favored by this film. On the contrary potrayal of Mafia life will force the misguided youth to revert to civilized society.

Film critics are of the opinion that Ravi Kishan has given his best in the film. Ravi Kishan too hopes after reviewing the final product that Bihari Mafia is worthy of a National Award.

It is said in Bhojpuri Film Industry that the film run on its stars and Stars rise and set down everyday. But Sudip Pandey has proved this saying wrong.

After completion his academic studies from Gaya in Bihar Sudip went to America for higher studies. There he was then employed as computer engineer. However he heeded to his inner voice and came back to his mother land and started making films and acting. Bhojpuriya Bhaiya was the first film starring Sudip and was produced himself. It was a success at the box offices and Bhojpuri Cinema got a new action star. Then his second film Bhojpuriya Daroga too became a superhit film which established Sudip in Bhojpuri Cinema and he started getting calls from big banners.

Recently his new film Daroga Ji Chori Ho Gayeel was released in Bihar. He is in this film along with Manoj Tiwari. His role of a Mukhia in the film is being praised by the viewers as well as critics.

Sudip is now busy with Chandu Ki Chameli, a film by Yashi Film International and Corporate House “Mumbai Mantra”. He is with Ravi Kishan in this film. His other films include Laagal Anchra Me Daag, Masiha Babu, and Vah Jeeja Ji. He plays the role of a mad lover in Laagal Anchra Me Daag.

So is  it going to bother the bhojpuri fans ….on asking him this, he said of course not…..my home production Bhojpuri film Bihari Mafia is realizing in March and apart from that I have more releases on hand like Rangbaaz Daroga, Bhoomi putra, sajana sajai Da Mang, Khatailal - Mithaila and many more . Not 12 but I am having at least 8 bhojpuri film releases this year. So whoever is saying that I am going to left bhojpuri industries are wrong because bhojpuri is in my blood and I can't think life without it.

Urmila started her career with a Bengali movie "Chetana", then she did successful films like "Amir Bhav", "Holi Da" etc. Later, she did several Hindi films as well, one of her films "Rafta Rafta the Speed" also completed silver jubilee. But, now she is doing a very challenging role in Bhojpuri film "Bidai", which is directed by Aslam Sheikh.

"Apart from being a good dancer, I am also a big fan of Madhuri Dixit, that’s what makes me experiment with all kinds of cinema," said Urmila. "Bhojpuri cinema is a true representation of our 70% people, who live in villages. Initially, I was a bit nervous, but later I found it to be a very easy and sweet language," she added.

The Music of Ramusa Entertainment & Media Enterprises first bhojpuri film launched by Bhojpuri superstar Manoj tiwari at Zee preview theatre Mumbai. Producer Madhuri tiwari told about Gorki Patarki re ‘This film is based on the story of a Royal family, whose prince prefers love marriage than the arranged one. So, when his father forces him to marry with someone of his choice, he runs away from village with large sum of money to Mumbai. In Mumbai, they meet two girls, and immediately fall in love with them. When his father gets to know about all this, he forces them to return back to village. What happens afterwards, is the climax of the story.

Both actors, Uttam Kumar & Ravi Shankar Tiwari, are making their debut in this film. Other lead roles are played by Rani Chaturvedi, Sweety Duttani, Anjan Srivastav, Sriballav Vyas, Deep Shresth, Vijay Khare, Liliput etc. Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari has played a very special guest appearance in this movie. CHINGI is the story of a very happy married couple- Rohan Date & Aarti Date (Milind Gawali & Girija Oak) staying in city of Mumbai. Rohan’s parents come from native place for change & stay with them (Ravindra Berde & Ila Bhate). Rohan and Aarti both are working couple are very busy with their routine life. They prefer family planning from last three years. As it always happens Arti’s mother in law starts demanding Aarti to have a baby boy. Aarti gets uneasy from this force of baby boy demand and she shares her emotions with her husband Rohan who in turn laughs it out without paying much attention.

Arti’s parental family is basically a middle class family. Arti’s mother & father stay like a very happy close knit family with their four daughters Priyanka, Rinku, Veena & Saloni (Aditi Sarangdhar, Sneha Wagh, Harshali Zine, Swini Karvir) Rohan suggests a colleague from his office Shyam (Sandip Bhansali) for Priyanka. Shyam’s Mother & Father come to see Priyanka. Shyam’s family likes Priyanka very much, But after hearing family background of Priyanka, Shyam’s Mother refuses to accept Priyanka in her family as daughter in law although Shyam is very keen for Priyanka.

When Aarti gets pregnant she gets very much worked up due to constant demand of her mother in law for baby boy and also Priyankas marriage proposal being refused also gets on her head like a big jolt. Although we have progressed tremendously in the fields of science & technology, our thought process is still limited to the old customs & traditions that are been followed ever since. The biggest example is that till today we are not excited when a girl child is born. Today also we don’t like a gird child being born in our family. First child should always be a boy that is our keen expectation.

Manoj - Ready for politics

Yes... Now Bhojpuri mega star Manoj Tiwari is stepping into Loksabha election. Manoj Tiwari will be candidate of Samajwadi Party from Gorakhpur of UP. It would be announced in a big ceremony will be held at Gorakhpur. Manoj’s spokesperson Shashikant Singh has confirmed the news and said that “Manoj will go to Gorakhpur on 16 January just to discuss some issues with people of Gorakhpur whereas the announcement of Manoj will be declared later. I am new to politics and have some feelings for Purvanchal, I want to do lot of development for this state and I knew it that it’s not possible with Bhojpuri cinema only. Tiwari also have offered for Bhadohi & Mirzapur loksabha seat. “I respect Mulayam Singh personally and that’s why I am agree to enter into politics through Samajwadi Party. I have submitted few important proposals to Mr.Anil Ambani for the development of Purvanchal.

In last 90s, there was a very famous Bhojpuri Song of Bharat Sharma "Goriya Chand ke Anjoriya niyan gor badu ho, tohar jod kehu naikhe, bejod badu ho..." The song was so popular that even Manoj Tiwari gave voice to the same in one of his movies. The song also appeared in Bharat Sharma’s first Bhojpuri film "Bhai hokhe ta Bharat niyan", which was released last year. Now, a film is being made on the second line of the same song.
